L’abb\u00e9 Jean Gerin<\/h3> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

Une biographie compl\u00e8te a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9e par l’historien Gilles-Marie Moreau (\u00e0 retrouver ici<\/a>). En voici un r\u00e9sum\u00e9 :<\/p>\n

N\u00e9 en\u00a01797<\/strong>\u00a0aux\u00a0Roches-de-Condrieu<\/strong>,\u00a0Jean Gerin<\/strong>\u00a0devint\u00a0apprenti tailleur d\u2019habits<\/strong>\u00a0dans le quartier Saint-Jean \u00e0\u00a0Lyon<\/strong>. Il suivit <\/strong>ensuite l\u2019enseignement de l\u2019\u00e9cole presbyt\u00e9rale de l\u2019abb\u00e9 Pr\u00e9her \u00e0 V\u00e9ranne et \u00e0 Tarentaise<\/strong>\u00a0(deux villages de la Loire). Apr\u00e8s avoir fr\u00e9quent\u00e9 le\u00a0Grand S\u00e9minaire \u00e0 Grenoble<\/strong>, il re\u00e7ut l\u2019ordination sacerdotale en\u00a01821<\/strong>\u00a0pour le dioc\u00e8se de\u00a0Grenoble<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Son minist\u00e8re d\u00e9buta \u00e0\u00a0Feyzin et Saint-Symphorien-d\u2019Ozon<\/strong>\u00a0(qui se trouvaient alors en Is\u00e8re). En\u00a01835<\/strong>, il est nomm\u00e9 cur\u00e9 de la cath\u00e9drale Notre-Dame de Grenoble.<\/strong> Il y exercera jusqu’\u00e0 son d\u00e9c\u00e8s en 1863<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Enti\u00e8rement d\u00e9vou\u00e9 au service de ses paroissiens<\/strong>, il travailla sans rel\u00e2che pour all\u00e9ger leurs souffrances spirituelles et mat\u00e9rielles<\/strong>. Nombreuses de ses heures \u00e9taient pass\u00e9es \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9glise, notamment au confessionnal. Sa profonde d\u00e9votion envers Notre-Dame de La Salette<\/a><\/strong> le fit conna\u00eetre davantage.<\/p>\n

Le reste de son temps, l’abb\u00e9 le consacre \u00e0 visiter les pauvres et les malades. Grand pr\u00e9dicateur, il donne de nombreux enseignements.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Il fonda ou dirigea de nombreuses\u00a0\u0153uvres sociales.<\/strong> Il fit notamment venir \u00e0 Grenoble les J\u00e9suites<\/strong>\u00a0et les\u00a0Filles de la Charit\u00e9<\/strong>. Le \u00ab\u00a0bon cur\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb de Grenoble cr\u00e9a \u00e9galement des \u00e9coles et des ateliers pour la jeunesse. Il apporta aussi son soutien aux \u00e9tablissements scolaires des s\u0153urs de la Providence<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Malgr\u00e9 une vie simple tourn\u00e9e vers la pri\u00e8re, l’abb\u00e9 appr\u00e9cie les traits d’humour. Il obtient obtient le titre de chevalier de la L\u00e9gion d’honneur en 1856. Il reste tout de fois humble face \u00e0 cet honneur.<\/p>\n

Appr\u00e9ci\u00e9 de tous pour sa charit\u00e9 ardente et sa simplicit\u00e9 chaleureuse<\/strong>, il s\u2019\u00e9teignit en odeur de saintet\u00e9.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Le souvenir de son rayonnement pastoral intense se perp\u00e9tue jusqu\u2019\u00e0 nos jours.
